Ibrahimovic: I will not quit until I have won something with Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has vowed he will not call quits on his career until he has won something with this Milan side .

The Sweden international celebrated Scudetto success in 2011 with Milan and lifted the Supercoppa Italiana the following season, but Stefano Pioli s side are yet to lift a trophy since the striker returned in 2019.

The Rossoneri sit second in Serie A this campaign, having been displaced by Napoli – who required a last-gasp winner to defeat Lazio on Sunday – following a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to strugglers Udinese.

Pioli s team are also still in contention for the Coppa Italia as they face neighbours Inter across a two-legged semi-final tie, the first leg of which comes on Tuesday.

Ibrahimovic, who has been sidelined with an …

Aston Villa tempted by Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers

Middlesbrough have rejected an offer from Aston Villa for Morgan Rogers, the PA news agency understands.

Villa have turned to Rogers to boost their attacking options but the bid has been turned down.

Rogers, 21, only joined Boro six months ago but has impressed under boss Michael Carrick.

Unai Emery is looking to increase his forward options as Villa aim to maintain a surprise title challenge with the club third in the Premier League.

Jhon Duran could leave this month while Ollie Watkins is Emery’s only other frontline striker.

Rogers, who was born just outside Birmingham in Halesowen, started his career at West Brom – making one substitute appearance – and joined Manchester City in 2019.

He did not play a senior game for City and ha…

Thomas Frank insists there is ‘no doubt’ Ivan Toney’s future is at Brentford

Thomas Frank said Ivan Toney’s future will be at Brentford after the striker was handed an eight-month ban for gambling offences.

The 27-year-old was found by the Football Association to have committed 232 breaches of its betting rules between 2017 and 2021.

It means Brentford’s top scorer will now not play again until January 2024, with the suspension also prohibiting him from working with his team-mates at the club’s training ground until September.

The FA indicated on Thursday it will apply to FIFA to have the ban extended worldwide, thereby ruling out the possibility of Toney being loaned abroad for the duration.

He has scored 20 of Brentford’s 54 Premier League goals this season as well as having made his debut for Gareth Southgate’s Englan…

Ronaldo returns to Man Utd: This is ´perfect business´ – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho declared Cristiano Ronaldo s move back to Manchester United is perfect business .

In a remarkable turnaround on Friday, United confirmed they had agreed to sign Ronaldo – who left Old Trafford in 2009 – from Juventus.

The 36-year-old is reportedly completing a medical in Lisbon this weekend, with personal terms and a visa to be finalised.

Mourinho, who is now at Roma after an ill-fated spell at Tottenham, managed his compatriot Ronaldo at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013 and later went on to coach United as well.

Ronaldo had one of his best goalscoring seasons in 2011-12 under Mourinho s tutelage, scoring 60 times across 55 appearances in all competitions.

The forward averaged 1.1 goals per appearance, or one every 81.7 minutes.…

Ten Hag: Man Utd still ´far away´ from Premier League´s top sides

Erik ten Hag warned Manchester United are still far away from challenging the Premier League elite, despite beating Arsenal on Sunday to make it four wins in a row.

Two second-half goals from Marcus Rashford, after Bukayo Saka cancelled out debutant Antony s opener, gave United a 3-1 victory over their old foes at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have collected a maximum 12 points from their past four matches in their best run of form in the league since April 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United have defeated Arsenal and Liverpool during a streak that has taken them from bottom of the division into fifth, but Ten Hag does not believe his side are title contenders.

We have to get better if you want to win trophies in the end, Ten Hag said.

Inter taken over by US investment fund Oaktree Capital

Investment fund Oaktree Capital Management has taken ownership of Serie A champions Inter after a missed €395million payment from the club s majority shareholder.

Granted by Oaktree in 2021 to the Luxembourg-based vehicle through which Chinese conglomerate Suning 002024.SZ controlled Inter, the loan was guaranteed by a stake in the club.

That gave Oaktree, which specialises in providing rescue funding to struggling firms, the potential right to take control of the club in the event of a default.

Oaktree is committed to working closely with Inter s current management team, partners, the league and governing bodies to ensure the club is positioned for success on and off the pitch, it said in a statement.

A person close to the matter said Oaktree, which h…

Cristiano Ronaldo denies mega-money Al Nassr deal is signed and sealed

Cristiano Ronaldo denied on Tuesday that he has agreed to join Saudi club Al Nassr after Portugal s World Cup adventure.

The striker became a free agent after being released from his Manchester United contract last month and reports have claimed Ronaldo has agreed an extraordinarily lucrative deal to play in Saudi Arabia.

Suggestions of a bumper contract offer from the Saudi Pro League club emerged last week, with Ronaldo said to be in line to earn well over £100million a year.

However, the 37-year-old says the reports of him signing a deal with Al Nassr are wrong.

Speaking after coming off the bench in Portugal s 6-1 win over Switzerland at the World Cup, a rare substitute appearance for his country, Ronaldo was asked about the move.

No, it s n…

Ronaldo´s Man Utd exit ´won´t affect´ his legacy at Old Trafford, says Forlan

Cristiano Ronaldo s acrimonious Manchester United exit won t affect his legacy at Old Trafford, former team-mate Diego Forlan told Stats Perform.

United announced last month they had reached a mutual agreement with Ronaldo to terminate his contract with immediate effect, following a controversial interview prior to the World Cup.

The Portugal captain, who scored 145 goals in 346 appearances for the club, did not hold back with his array of criticisms, including ones directed towards manager Erik ten Hag, and it became apparent he was on borrowed time at Old Trafford.

Forlan played alongside Ronaldo during the latter s debut season with the Red Devils in 2003-04, and the ex-Uruguay forward was disappointed at the nature of his former team-mate s departure.
