Depay completes Man Utd move

Manchester United have completed the signing of forward Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven on a four-year deal.

The Holland international, who was shortlisted for the Young Player Award at the FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil last summer,  led the Dutch Eredivisie with 22 goals in 30 games in 2014/15.

This is a dream come true for me; to play for the biggest club in the world and also to have the chance to work with someone who I believe is the best manager in the world, Louis van Gaal, Depay told the club s official website. I have great belief in my ability and I work hard to strive to achieve my dreams.

I have been at PSV Eindhoven since I was 12 years old and I would like to thank them for everything. It was a great moment when we won the league and I was so happy to be part of that. This is now a new chapter in my life and one that I am looking forward to.

Depay, who will provide the Red Devils with some much needed pace and trickery ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, will reunite with former Oranje manager Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

I know Memphis well from our time working together in the Netherlands national team. He is a young versatile player who has the ability to play in a number of different positions, Van Gaal added.

It will take time for Memphis to get used to the rhythm of the Premier League but I have no doubt that he has the potential to become a great footballer for this club and he is at the right club to continue the good work he has done so far.

Meanwhile, in other news, United have reached a deal to sign Brazilian playmaker Roberto Firmino from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for €18 million, according to ESPN Brazil s José Elias.

Firmino, a member of Brazil s Copa America squad, tallied seven goals and 10 assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances for Hoffenheim last season.

Taarabt signs for Benfica

Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt has joined Portuguese giants S.L. Benfica on a five-year deal.

Taarabt, 26, started just three English Premier League matches for QPR in 2014/15, as the Londoners finished bottom-of-the-table in England s top-flight.

Instead of plying his trade in England s second-tier next season, Taarabt will be playing UEFA Champions League football.

Taarabt, who joined QPR from Tottenham Hotspur in 2010, scored 34 goals in 164 appearances in all competitions for the Super Hoops.
